BATTLEFIELD 2042 APRIL UPDATE: DEV CONFIRMS “A FEW HUNDRED CHANGES” FOR PATCH 3.4

Battlefield 2042 April Update: Dev Confirms “A Few Hundred Changes” For Patch 3.4

April 1, 2022

It’s fair to say Battlefield 2042 has had a rough launch, and given the recent report from Tom Henderson – that a new Battlefield game is already in development –  with equally BF2042 being described internally as being “a miss”.

Despite this, major updates are still planned for the game, and at the start of March, DICE confirmed that the next significant patch (Update 3.4) was scheduled to launch in early April. This should bring a whole heap of changes including the previously announced VOIP functionality for Squads, Refreshed scoreboard during End of Round, Balance changes for weaponry on vehicles and plenty more.

Now that we’re getting ready to head into April, one developer posting on the EA Support forums has teased what fans can expect to see, including “a few hundred changes.”

“The next will be considerable (April), and we’re currently looking at a few hundred changes,” an unnamed dev explained. “It’s mostly bug fixes, but we’re also looking to make further changes to for example vehicle balance and the current behavior of attachments for weapons.”

“We’ll provide more details on what exactly is in the update closer to its release date via a full set of update notes. I know you would like to know more now, so I want to clarify that I’m not trying to tease you by being vague – I’m simply still compiling the full list of changes for you all because it’s a lot.”

Adding an edit to this, the developer later noted “the update will also contain the End of Round Scoreboard functionality, and VoIP,” which was already confirmed as coming to the game, albeit without a specific confirmation as to when these features would drop.

When is Battlefield 2042 update 3.4 releasing?

As noted previously Battlefield 2042 Update 3.4 is scheduled to release in “early April” but at the time of writing DICE hasn’t confirmed a specific release date or release time for it.

It’s also not as though the game has established any sort of cadence for when updates drop.  Update 3.3 was initially due to launch in February, but DICE made the decision to delay its release to March 8th at 9:00 AM UTC.

If we had to guess, we imagine Update 3.4 will launch around April 12 (since it’s still not been confirmed yet). As soon as we hear more, we’ll be sure to update this page.

April 1 – DICE has released a rather massive blog post (available on the link below) delving into the core feedback they’ve received for Battlefield 2042‘s maps in recent weeks and how this will inform changes to the game in the coming weeks and months. These changes will be released during Season 1, which is expected to start this summer. Based on the blog post it’s unclear how many of these changes, or tweaks, we could see in the forthcoming April update.
