HOW FORTNITE SEASON 8 IS CHANGING THE GAME

A new season of Fortnite is here and it’s bringing a lot of cool mechanics for players to experience!

Season 8 of Fortnite is officially here! It felt like time was crawling along as we searched high and low for every scrap of information. The official Twitter account certainly helped whet our appetites, dripping out pieces of juicy information in the lead-up to the reveal. Now that Season 8 is here, so much has changed in Fortnite. Let’s take a look at some of the exciting new additions!

Pirate Party

Pirates are all the rage at the moment and Fortnite isn’t going to be missing that party. It appears as if pirates have invaded the island and left a whole lot of cannons all over the place. Players can now use these cannons to obliterate structures and even shoot themselves out of the cannons to cover long distances. There are also some pirate-themed skins for those players who are looking to get their sea legs!

Party Assist

Tired of trying to complete challenges with a squad that doesn’t know what to do? Those days are long gone thanks to the new Party Assist feature that was added with Fortnite Season 8. This new mechanic lets a player set a challenge that the whole squad can tackle. Players will be able to see what challenge the whole squad is aiming for and then work together to make that vision a reality.

Free Battle Pass

Season 8 is the first time that players have been able to play with a free Battle Pass. At the end of Season 7, Epic Games let players earn a free Season 8 Battle Pass by completing several Overtime Challenges. These challenges were pretty easy to complete, only asking players to do things they’d normally do, like play with friends and deal damage using assault rifles.

Those lucky players that were able to complete the Overtime Challenges will find that they have a Season 8 Battle Pass ready to go. There are a lot of awesome items to unlock over the 100 tiers, including hundreds of V-Bucks, the Peely banana skin, and heaps of other goodies.

Volcano and New Locations

The volcano is the newest addition to the island, springing up in the northeast corner. This gigantic tectonic landmass has drastically changed the island’s layout. It’s going to take some time before players know exactly how to use the volcano to their advantage, but it’s here to stay – at least for the season!

Because of the new landmass, a few new areas have cropped up and an old location has changed. Lazy Links is gone. It’s been obliterated by the volcano and has turned into Lazy Lagoon. This lagonn is the perfect place to hang out with friends and shoot some enemies. Plus, there’s an awesome pirate shop to be found floating on the water.

Wailing Woods and Tomato Temple also got destroyed by the volcano. These places have been replaced with Sunny Steps, a small area featuring pyramids in and an Aztec-like theme.

New Ping System

Apex Legends has done so much good for the battle royale genre and Fortnite has been taking notes. Players will now find that they can ping locations on the map with a press of a button. This is going to make it so much easier to communicate with teammates when not using a microphone. A bit of communication goes a long way!

There’s so much more in the Fortnite Season 8 update, so you better get in and start exploring all the changes. Where are you going to drop first in Fortnite Season 8? Let us know in the comments!
