VALORANT IS COMING TO CONSOLES, SUGGESTS NEW DATAMINE AND JOB LISTING

Valorant Is Coming To Consoles, Suggests New Datamine And Job Listing

March 30, 2022

Valorant has been wildly successful ever since it first launched back in June 2020. Since then, it’s gone from strength to strength amassing an average of 15 million monthly players, at least according to Active Player.

The thing is though, at the time of writing, Valorant isn’t available on any console platform, meaning if you want to get in on the action, you either need a PC or have the cash to splash on a brand new rig.

Thankfully though, if you don’t have the money spare, the game could be finally shuffling towards a console release on PlayStation and Xbox platforms.

First up, we know that Valorant’s console port has been spoken about for some time. As far as we can tell, back in November 2020 In an interview back in November 2020, Esports Talk sat down with Valorant executive producer Anna Donlon who confirmed that there was beta in the works for a console release. That being said, Donlon did state they would be reluctant to release any console port as long as they don’t “nail it”.

Since then, there’s been lots of rumours, and the occasional hint that something might be going on, but very little in the way of substance. Well, that could be set to change in the not too distant future.

Players have spotted that the most recent update has added some strings of code that relate to PSN and Xbox Live connections being lost. See for yourself, just below. It’s worth noting, that these won’t appear in-game, it’s merely for back-end purposes, but it’s nonetheless good to see progress being made.

In addition, to the above, another well-known leaker about all things related to Riot Games, @ValorLeaks, has also noticed that Riot appears to be specifically hiring for a Senior Console Game Designer to work on the Valorant team.

Whilst this likely indicates any console port is still months away from launching, it’s also a pretty clear sign that it’s no longer being spoken about, but heavily developed internally at Riot.

Will it arrive before the end of the year? Who knows, but make sure to keep checking Turtle Beach for all the latest info as it drops.
